Tekashi 6ix9ine is certainly not happy after his $200,000 donation to a children’s food charity was turned down. The Brooklyn rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was recently in prison for crimes he carried out as part of a violent gang, but he got an early release largely due to the coronavirus.
Since his release, he seems to be doing well in financial terms to the extent that he decided to give out some of his wealth to a children’s charity but his offer was declined.
No Kid Hungry, the nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating childhood hunger, rejected the donation, saying in a statement:
“We are grateful for Mr. Hernandez’s generous offer to donate to No Kid Hungry but we have informed his representatives that we have declined this donation. As a child-focused campaign, it is our policy to decline funding from donors whose activities do not align with our mission and values.”
In a now-deleted post on his Instagram page, Tekashi called their decision “cruel.”
He wrote: “@nokidhungry would rather take food out of the mouth of innocent children.”
“I have never seen something so cruel.”
Tekashi, who suffers from asthma, was released in March from federal prison to serve the remaining four months of his two-year sentence in home confinement. The 24-year-old was sentenced in December after testifying against members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang.
He had pleaded guilty to nine counts of racketeering and other charges but received a much more lenient sentence after giving evidence against his former gang members, including offering names of gang members and revealing inner workings of the gang.
