A Texas barber was shot three times by the father of an unsatisfied 13-year-old customer after an argument over what seems like a bad haircut.
According to KHOU, the suspect’s 13-year-old son went to the shop to get a trim on Saturday, but returned with his father who registered his displeasure with the haircut.
Though the barber fixed the haircut for free, their argument escalated and dragged to the car park where the suspect shot the barber in the stomach, leg and arm. The suspect’s son was in a car when the incident occurred.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office shared a Tweet on Sunday confirming the shooting. They also described the suspect, who fled the scene with his son as a black male.
“Deputies are at a barber shop in the 23900 block of Franz Rd, where a male employee appears to have been shot by a customer, who then fled. The victim has been taken to the hospital,” they shared.
“The suspect is a black male. Vehicle may be a gray 4-door sedan, possibly Honda Accord. Witnesses say he shot an employee while arguing over a haircut given to the suspect’s son.”
Detective Wallace Wyatt, while addressing the incident and its absurdity called on the suspect to turn himself in and be a good example to his son.
“I think it’s just crazy for anyone to shoot anybody over a haircut, period,” Wallace told KHOU. “Like I said, the disturbing part is his 13-year-old son witnessed this, which makes him a part of this, so this 13-year-old son knows he needs to come forward and tell us what happened. The father knows he needs to come forward and tell us what happened. Just to be an example, to be a good father and say, ‘I messed up. I have something to prove to my son, and this is how you fix it.”
“That is one of the worst ones I’ve heard, especially with your son being here, witnessing what you’re doing,” Wallace told KPRC about the shooting.
The barber is, however, reportedly in a stable condition after being hospitalized.
