Ghana
In the last quarter of 2018, at the United States National Press Club in Washington DC, Ghana’s president Nana Akufo Addo declared 2019 as the year of return for black diasporians eager to find a place to call home in Africa, reconnect with their history and establish themselves in the motherland. This declaration put Ghana in the news for several weeks and made it the first choice of several black celebrities such as Boris Kodjoe, Naomi Campbell, Morgan Heritage, Idris Elba among several others. With a rich availability of history and culture and several programs being organised to create a better bond between Africans and the black diasporans, Ghana is one of the African countries on several lists this year.
