René Préval
Préval was the President of Haiti from 1996 to 2001 and then from 2006 to 2011. He is remembered for attempting to investigate human rights abuses in his first term as well as introduce some economic reforms.
In his second term, the Haiti earthquake in 2010 destroyed the country killing about 100,000 to 316,000 people.
Préval died at the age of 74 from cardiac arrest on March 3, 2017.
