Mali
Mansa is a Mandinka word meaning “sultan”, king, or “emperor”. It was first associated with the Keita Dynasty.
The king can also be referred to as ‘faama’ which was used in pre-imperial Mali and found its way in various kingdoms including the Bamana Empire.
