In Nigeria, a Yoruba king is referred to as Oba, which translates to ‘ruler’.  The same title is used in the Beni community.

For the Igbo,  the king’s title is Eze, which also means King.  The king can also be referred to with other titles including Igwe, which loosely means that the king is a higher servant of the people.
