Asantehene is the title used for kings of the Kingdom of Ashanti.  The king is also referred to as Otumfuo, which is also used to refer to God. The queen mother, who is given the power to appoint and depose a king, is referred to as Asantehemaa.

In the Kingdom of Dagbon, the title of the king is Ya Naa, which means ‘king of strength’.
