Faces of Black Excellence

This tech founder started his business at age 17 and now makes $200 million annually

Chris Amos is a remarkable entrepreneur who has made a significant impact in the business world. His journey began as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley in New York, where he gained valuable experience and insights into the financial industry.

Motivated by his desire to make a positive change and the entrepreneurship classes he had taken at the young age of 17, Chris and three friends established the mobile advertising company, Ampush; however, did not give his full commitment after four years of working in banking and investment firms.

The friends had to return to the drawing board once again to develop a plan for their mutual ambition to go into full-time entrepreneurship. This time, their experience in the working environment enabled them to identify the gaps in their existing approach to advertising, and also helped them to give businesses a run for their money using technology.

Ampush has partnered with Facebook, Twitter, and Google to afford companies to take advantage of their platform to sell their products to their consumers on e-commerce, gaming, and travel sites, according to tune.com. Since taking that leap, the company has taken the lead in driving performance through native design, and has gained recognition for its innovative approach to advertising, as well as its ability to deliver exceptional results for clients.

Chris’ company now employs 100 staff at its San Francisco and New York offices and benefits from an annual revenue of $200 million. His three friends who joined him to set up the company since it took off, have never taken investor’s dollars. They aim to make mobile advertising competitive in a space that bagged $35 billion in 2014, from $18 billion in 2013, according to Wharton Magazine.

Chris Amos’s passion for entrepreneurship and commitment to creating positive change have been the driving forces behind his success. He recognizesd the power of entrepreneurship as a vehicle for addressing social and economic challenges, and has dedicated his career to harnessing that power.

Through his various ventures, Chris has not only demonstrated his business acumen, but his unwavering determination to make a difference. His ability to identify opportunities, take calculated risks, and build successful businesses has earned him respect and admiration in the entrepreneurial community.

His story is a testament to the transformative power of entrepreneurship. By stepping out of his comfort zone and leveraging the knowledge and skills he acquired early in his life, he has been able to create businesses that drive positive change and contribute to the advancement of society.

As an entrepreneur, Chris continues to inspire others to pursue their passions, think outside the box, and work towards creating a more equitable and prosperous world. His journey serves as a reminder that anyone with the courage and determination to make a difference can have a significant impact on the lives of others.
