Christ the King Statue
Christ the King Statue is a Catholic monument and shrine dedicated to Jesus Christ and is located in the city of Lubango, Angola. It was designed in 1957 by Portuguese engineer Madeira Frazao Sardinha. In April 2014, the statue was listed as an Angolan World Heritage Site. The statue, which was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was built as a Catholic landmark but also represented colonial interests. The structure is 130 meters tall and stands on a foundation of stones, cement, and bricks.
