President Donald Trump has gained notoriety for controversy. Days after making a mockery of the praises of deceased civil rights icon and Congressman John Lewis, Trump has now set his sights on the Black Lives Matter movement.
In a ‘Fox & Friends’ interview, Trump described the pro-equality movement as “a Marxist group that is not looking for good things for our country.”
The Black Lives Matter movement reignited in May after the death of George Floyd, the 46-year-old Black man who lost his life after Minnesota cop, Derek Chauvin, was filmed kneeling on his neck for almost nine minutes, despite pleading he could not breathe.
Floyd’s death sparked protests against police brutality and systemic racism in the United States.
“Black Lives Matter, when did it start? Marching down streets screaming, ‘Pigs in a blanket, fry them like bacon.’ They were talking about policemen,” Trump said. “So all of a sudden, this has taken on this air of great respectability. Well, how does it start there? It’s a Marxist group.”
Trump also slammed Antifa activists who clashed with authorities in Portland and other cities. “You see them standing there with weapons that are expensive, with signs that were made — literally they have signs, some of their little marches, they have signs that were made in a high-class printing shop. I like the signs that are made in a basement, they mean a lot more,” he said.
The last time a former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, one of Trump’s attorneys, also described the Black Lives Matter movement as a Marxist entity that had been planning for three years to destroy the police.
“Black Lives Matter is a Marxist organization run by three avowed Marxists — go check. Black Lives Matter has been planning to destroy the police for three years. They’ve finally gotten stupid Democrat mayors to agree with them,” Giuliani said.
Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors, in a newly surfaced video from 2015 described herself and fellow co-founder, Alicia Garza, as “trained Marxists.”
According to Breitbart News, Cullors, 36, was the protégé of Eric Mann, former agitator of the Weather Underground domestic terror organization. She spent years absorbing the Marxist-Leninist ideology that shaped her worldview, the outlet reported.
“The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers,” she said, referring to BLM co-founder Garza.
“We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk,” she added in the interview with The Real News Network.
