Everyone is feeling the ripple effects of the coronavirus, especially workers whose jobs are considered as non- essential but must still support their families with no paycheck coming in. For some 42 servers in an Atlanta restaurant, media mogul Tyler Perry was just too generous and left a $21,000 tip in total for them over the weekend.
He went to a Houston restaurant on Northside Parkway that had laid off most of its workers due to the virus. Perry then gave each of the 42 workers a $500 tip, according to TMZ.
Perry’s kind gesture towards the workers would not solve their problems, but it would alleviate their woes until the government’s money promised to citizens whose businesses have been forced to shut down comes.
The money from the government is expected to come in May, but many states have issued a stay-at-home order that requires individuals to only step out for essential purposes.
Restaurants and diners have had to cut down on staff and are mandated by law to avail delivery and take-out options for their customers to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The effect of the virus across the world is immense and in the United States, a John Hopkins University data reveals that there are over 1.3 million COVID-19 cases with about 275,00 recoveries.
New data on Georgia, however, indicate that they have over 7,300 cases of the virus and more than 220 deaths. Nonetheless, the data didn’t have the number of recoveries.
