There was pandemonium in Nigeria’s parliament on Wednesday after some intruders suspected to have been sponsored by suspended senator Ovie Omo-Agege stormed the House and took away the symbolic mace.
The thugs after taking the ceremonial staff ran out of the chamber with it leaving everyone at the scene shocked.
The mace represents the legislature’s authority and without it, key decisions cannot be approved.
The incident has since been described as an act of treason by the Senate and the senator allegedly involved has been arrested.
