In a recent interview with PEOPLE, veteran singer Usher touched on a variety of topics including his latest single, “Good Good”, as well as his Las Vegas residency and Keke Palmer’s boyfriend publicly condemning a dress the actress wore to his concert.
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Darius Jackson made the news across Twitter on July 5 after he registered his displeasure over a revealing dress the mother of his son wore to the 44-year-old singer’s highly-successful Las Vegas residency show.
Jackson became a topic of discussion on the social media platform when he commented on a viral video of Palmer dancing with Usher as he serenaded her. “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom,” he quoted on the video.
In a follow-up tweet, Jackson doubled down on his comments despite being called out and described as an “insecure” and “corny” partner, Entertainment Weekly reported.
“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is,” the fitness instructor wrote. “This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”
And though, Palmer, 29, is yet to respond to her boyfriend’s sentiments, she later took to Instagram to share photos of her revealing concert outfit. “I wish I had taken more pictures but we were running late!” she wrote.
Asked about the attention the incident garnered, Usher told PEOPLE it was “a pop moment” and “worth talking about.” “I think everybody’s vision or a version of what they felt happened there just leads you back to just really having a good time in Las Vegas. And that’s what I hope came out of it. Rather, it was a conversation of what was going on with us having fun in front of the audience or conversation about that song,” the U Got It Bad singer said.
“Every night I’m thinking about how the world now is going to react to this moment that I’ll have with whoever I’m choosing to sing to. But it was a pop moment, and it was fun to have at least conversation going and we just keep it light. I don’t see anything negative happening in Las Vegas.”
On a lighter note, the singer also said he welcomes the “Domestic Terrorist” nickname fans have bestowed upon him. “The internet is crazy. You can’t beat the internet,” he jokingly said.
