A Virginia man who became $250,000 richer after winning a lottery said the numbers came to him through a dream. According to FOX 29, Alonzo Coleman won the amount after participating in the state’s Bank a Million lottery game.
Players who stake the lottery have to pick six different numbers ranging from 1 to 40. The lottery prizes, which are awarded to winners after taxes, include $1 million, $500,000, and $250,000. The amount a player wins is determined by how the individual stakes the $2 bet.
The numbers Coleman said appeared to him in the dream were 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18. State lottery officials said the retiree opted to break down his wager by four ways – meaning the sets of numbers that he had were four. Officials said the numbers for the $250,000 lottery prize that was up for grabs for the drawing on June 11 matched one of Coleman’s sets.
“It was hard to believe!” Coleman said during a conversation with lottery officials. “It still hasn’t hit me yet!”
Officials said over $2 million is generated daily through the Virginia Lottery, adding that the funds are channeled to the state’s K-12 public schools.
