Nipsey Hussle may be gone, but his legacy and the indelible mark he left in the rap and entertainment industry will live on forever.
Prior to his death, the Victory Lap and Grammy-nominated rapper inked a deal with Puma to collaborate on a number of projects with his Marathon Clothing as well as be a brand ambassador.
“It’s two sides to it,” the rapper told Power 106 in an interview two weeks before his unfortunate death.
“One side, I’m a brand ambassador for Puma. The other side is a collaborative project with The Marathon [Clothing] and Puma. We’re going to do multiple collections but the first one drops fall 2019, like around September. It’s going to be shoes, apparel, [and] a few accessories.”
Though his vision of building a fruitful and long-lasting brand partnership was short-lived, Puma didn’t sever ties with the rapper even after his death. In September this year, the athletic brand released a posthumous capsule collection he was behind.
Comprising sneakers, sweatsuits, jackets, T-shirts, pants, and socks, the PUMA x TMC collection sold out the day after it was released.
Still keeping his memories alive, Lauren London and Puma officially launched her “Forever Stronger” campaign where she paid a touching tribute to her late boyfriend and father of her son.
“Lauren London is proud to join forces with PUMA to support her on this next chapter of her journey,” Puma captioned the video on YouTube. “This piece was a creative vision Lauren wanted to bring to life to signify the continuation of her marathon alongside PUMA. Forever Stronger.”
Driving through the streets of his Crenshaw and Slauson neighborhood, the actress recites a poem written by the Eritrean-American rapper’s sister, Samantha Smith. She also proudly displays a tribute tattoo she got of him on her right forearm.
“Pain is the light, pain is insight. The body hurts but the spirit grows. The flesh is starving while wisdom overflows,” she partly and calmly recites. “I got a question only Lord knows: Does life birth us twice?”
