Actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish isn’t the type to shy away from her Eritrean heritage and she never stops at flaunting it any chance she gets.
Over the weekend, the Girls Trip star joined her compatriots in California for the Eritrean festival and judging from the photos and videos of the celebrations, Haddish most definitely felt at home and had a great time.
Taking to the stage with an Eritrean flag and umbrella, a clearly excited Haddish effortlessly finessed the eskita and of course, couldn’t help but also do some traditional ululations while addressing the enthusiastic audience.
Born in Los Angeles to an African-American mother and an Eritrean father who entered the United States as a refugee, Haddish has always spoken passionately about her Eritrean heritage and her strong bond with her family back home. Just last year, she visited the Horn of Africa nation in what was an emotional homecoming to bury her father and also meet and connect with her relatives.
She also went back in May this year to join in the country’s independence day celebrations. During her stay, her application for an Eritrean ID card got approved, thus making her officially an Eritrean citizen.
Take a look at Haddish’s appearance at the festival below. How do you rate her eskita skills?
