Known for their proficiency and dexterity in crafts and art, the Yombe people live in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Angola and Zambia. Notable among their carvings is the Nkisi Nkonde, which refers to power figures.

The Nkisi carvings are used to solve societal problems and diseases while the Nkonde carvings, which are the most powerful, have conspicuous nails on them and are used to hunt down and punish wrongdoers.

Looking to add more African art to your collection at home or office? If yes, then take a look at some of these very interesting Nkisi Nkonde carvings.
