Yirga is a writer, researcher and poet from Lalibela, Ethiopia. His research focuses on Ethiopia’s traditional knowledges, and the importance of decolonizing western knowledge in Africa. He also writes creatively on belonging and diasporic lives. His book Native Colonialism: Education and the Economy of Violence Against Traditions in Ethiopia was published in 2017. Currently, he is a Lecturer at the Centre for Human Rights Education, Curtin University.
