10-year-old Indiana girl honored for saving the lives of two people

Henry County Sheriff’s Office bestowed a “life-saving” award on 10-year-old Aneres Bellefont. According to WTHR, Bellefront received the honor from Henry County Sheriff John M. Sproles on Friday for her fast thinking that prevented another person from dying.

The Sheriff’s Office honored her on social media, describing the 10-year-old’s bravery. On January 8, Bellefont called the Henry County 911 dispatch office to report that she had discovered an unconscious adult male inside a car close to her home. She also discovered an unconscious adult woman near the car.

She reported that no other adults were in the vicinity of the scene and that she thought both individuals were not breathing.

She continued to assist the emergency services by providing the exact locations of the two adults and, while maintaining her composure, kept the dispatchers informed of each adult’s status.

The medics were able to deliver Narcan to each of the individuals right away before they were brought to the Henry Community Health Hospital.

Moved by her actions, County Sheriff Sproles commended her, saying, “I want to personally say Thank You, and Congratulations to Aneres Bellefont for her Bravery in taking decisive action and remaining calm while under immense life and death pressure.”

“Aneres, you are a True Hero! Two adults are alive today because you courageously took control of the emergency situation you found yourself in. You did all of the right things! The Henry County Sheriff’s Office salutes you!”

Further boosting her morale, Sproles added, “On another note, if I had a “Best Hair in Henry County” award with me at the time, Aneres would have certainly been awarded that as well!”
