The youth will become the makers of Africa! On September 21-22, 2012, the Council of Young African Leaders and CUNY University Student Senate, hosts the 2nd Annual Young African Leadership Symposium.
This year’s theme is: “Africa’s Youth Rising: The Role of Youth in Renegotiating Africa's Position in the World”. The organizers are calling on advocates, investors, entrepreneurs, activists and young Africans who can lead innovative change to cultivate awareness of regional efforts in the USA to meet the efforts and needs of those living in Africa.
This 2-day symposium begins with a Networking Reception on September 21, 2012 that will be held at Natsumi Lounge located at 226 West 50th Street New York, NY 10019 from 6pm-11pm. This will be a great opportunity for the attendants to meet with the speakers and some members of the African professional community. On September 22, 2012, attendants will convene at CUNY John Jay College located at 899 10th Avenue, NY, NY 10019 (Room 630T). The event will begin with a networking breakfast and a 10AM Keynote Address by Abdi Latif Ega an Associate Professor at Columbia University. Thereafter, prominent speakers and young leaders will convene at CUNY John Jay College to participate in dialogue about topics including Leadership in the 21st Century and the challenges of the atypical leaders, The technology and media boom in Africa, Rethinking African Scholarship, and the challenges of being a Young African Entrepreneur.
The event is made possible in partnership with ReTHINK, Applause Africa Magazine, GC4Women, African Day Parade and Festival, the African Leadership Project, and US-Africa Synergy.
