Black Streets Presents: Black Celebration

New York, NY- On Monday, September 17, 2012, BLACK STREET presents: "Black Celebration" in hopes to award twenty-five individuals who exemplify the GREATNESS within our community. BLACK STREET has chosen the 2 runner ups from 25 categories with the highest number of votes. The award recipients from each category will be named at the award ceremony. Nominees being awarded have received little or no recognition for their work, or are newly integrated within the industry. 

Our current nominees have worked for and/or with notable brands such as BET, CNN, MSNBC, Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week, NY TIMES, Essence Magazine, Creme Magazine, BRAVO TV, Food Network, Black Enterprise, New York Urban League, NBC, renowned television show: SMASH, Mike Bloomberg, Michelle Obama, and many more!

BLACK STREET will also honor the following Individuals:

  • Isaiah Washington- (Actor, Humanitarian, Author)
  • Mikki Taylor- (Essence Magazine’s Editor At Large, Founder & President of Mikki Taylor Enterprises,LLC)
  • Sabrina Thompson- (WEEN Co-Founder, CBS TV Personality, Educator)

This event will be filled with past featured individuals, the tri-state areas most prominent personages, wonderful atmosphere, wonderful entertainment from live bands, prominent and elite individuals and speakers, complimentary hors-d’oeuvres and wine, and an awards ceremony recognizing top tier individuals.

BLACK STREET is a website which focuses on showcasing the greatness within the Black community. Within BLACK STREET, every business, organization, and individual is given his/her own presence within the website. Unlike other media outlets which cater to the Black community who focus on specific industries, BLACK STREET caters to all industries. They focus on giving everyone their "spotlight". Their goal is to encourage the Black community of its positivity, expertise, & success. They also strive to educate others of our history, present, and future, while also providing information of influential and beneficial happenings.

Sandra Appiah

Sandra Appiah is the Chief Operating Officer at Face2Face Africa. She graduated with honors (Summa Cum laude) from the Newhouse School of public communications (Syracuse University, NY) and spent a lot of time in the media industry working with companies such as the New York Times, HBO, and MTV. An avid believer in Africa with an interest in showcasing the glory of the continent, Ms. Appiah is also host of “The Sandra Appiah Show”, an inspirational talk show that chronicles the journeys of Africa’s movers & shakers. Sandra has been listed in Forbes 30 Under 30: Africa’s Best Young Entrepreneurs in 2013. With an incandescent passion matched only by her abundant ambition and prodigious talent, Ms. Appiah has been at the forefront of the mission for this generation of Africans to seize control of tools by which Africa's narrative is curated, crafted, and presented to the wider world.
