Festus Ekotie-Eboh – Nigeria
Born on July 18, 1912, Festus Samuel Okotie-Eboh is regarded in history as the most flamboyant politician to have ever graced the political space in Nigeria.
A rich, influential and powerful figure, he was the Federal Minister of Labour and Welfare, and then Finance Minister during the Tafawa Balewa administration. He was very instrumental in the founding of Nigeria’s Central Bank in 1959.
It is believed that he even maintained a personal relationship with the 35th president of America, John. F. Kennedy. He was an epitome of stylish fashion right until his assassination.
In January 1966, Nigeria’s first coup got him killed, alongside a number of other prominent politicians but his legacies have lived on.
