Mona Eltahawy
Mona Eltahawy is an Egyptian-American journalist and social commentator.
She is a staunch advocate for women’s rights, Islamic reform, feminism and human rights.
Eltahawy also spearheaded the Mosque Me Too Movement, which highlights the sexual abuse some women have endured while performing their Islamic Pilgrimage to Hajj.
Eltahawy literary works have been labeled as “too critical” in response to a piece she penned about the Egyptian administration, arrested for protesting against Jihad and calling for individuals to support Israel and accused Arab men of misogyny.
She’s said, “name me an Arab country, and I’ll recite a litany of abuses [of women] fueled by a toxic mix of culture and religion that few seem willing or able to disentangle lest they blaspheme or offend.”
Eltahawy boldly identifies as a secular, radical feminist Muslim.
