50 Cent to produce animated black superhero series

American rapper and movie executive, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has added animated works to his already impressive résumé on TV production.

The executive director of television series, Power, is currently set to produce an animated series alongside, Lionsgate and short-form streamer, Quibi.

The series, called “Trill League” is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Anthony Piper, Variety reports. Set up by Quibi, the series combines the worlds of superheroes, anime and hip-hop culture.

The characters include the leader of the movement Blackmayne, his 11-year-old sidekick Sparrow, the first woman of the group Wondeisha, a crime-fighting pimp named Soul and the muscle of the team, Swolemayne.

The series is set for launch in the first quarter of 2020. It is part of a number of projects being worked on by Quibi.

“I am excited to bring G-Unit Film & Television to an innovative platform like Quibi with my partners at Lionsgate and 3 Arts. Anthony Piper and Jameel Saleem have created a world we haven’t seen before in ‘Trill League,’ looking forward to sharing it soon,” said 50 Cent.

This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has moved into new ventures. He has successfully invested in a highly diversified variety of industries including footwear, apparel, fragrances, liquor, video games, mobile apps, book publishing, headphones, and health drinks and dietary supplements. He is also a talent manager.

Following the successful debut of Power, 50 Cent will be the executive producer alongside, 3 Arts Entertainment and Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television are producing in association with Lionsgate TV. It is written by Jameel Saleem and Piper.
