Egide Nzojibwami
The geologist and an academic escaped civil war in Burundi, studied in Europe and settled in Calgary, Canada. He initially had difficulties in finding a job, despite his doctorate degree.
To get credential recognition, he had to complete an exam after only being in Canada for three months. He passed in spite of his limited English experience and subsequently registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, which regulates engineers in the province.
After completing a master’s in civil engineering at the U of C to legitimize his credentials, Nzojibwani restarted a company he founded in Burundi, Technosol Engineering. This is a consulting corporation in groundwater and environmental assessment that works in the oil and gas industry and for municipal developments.
