A look at the fascinating bond between cheetahs and the San people [Photos]

Mainly occupying areas in Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, and South Africa, the San people are known to live very simple lives devoid of little or no influence from modernization.

The hunter-gatherers, who are considered to be the earliest of such in southern Africa, have been widely documented living a life of peaceful co-existence with tamed cheetahs.

“The San have a deep respect for wildlife, due to co-existing alongside them for centuries,” photographer Jack Somerville said in an interview.

Albeit wild animals, the San people tame some of them from when they are cubs to particularly provide some much-needed help during their hunting expeditions when they mature. Being the fastest animal in the world, their services most definitely come in handy.

In Namibia where there is a sanctuary for rescued cheetahs, the cats also freely mingle with the San people and follow them around as they go about their daily duties.

To pay homage to their harmonious co-existence, your ultimate online destination for global black lifestyle news, Nsuri, shares with you some amazing photos of the cats and San people. Enjoy!
