Nigerian Singer Slammed for Offering Virginity In Boko Haram Hostage Trade

Adokiye Kyrian (pictured), a Nigerian singer, has come under fire, after she offered her virginity in a trade for the missing schoolgirls and others held by the Boko Haram Islamist extremists.

Kyrian, 23, spoke with Vanguard’s Showtime and unveiled her bold statement. Although her gesture may have a measure of noble intent, Kyrian didn’t even balk at the possibility the militants could physically harm her, because, in her words, she is “older and more experienced.”

“They are between 12 and 15 year old girls for Christ sake,” Kyrian said. “It is just unfair. They are too young. I wish I could offer myself in exchange.”

“Even if 10 to 12 men have to take me every night, I don’t care. Just release these girls and let them go back to their parents,” she added.

Observers in social media were angered by Kyrian’s statement and called her actions both selfish and attention-seeking.

The New York Daily News reports:

Instead of Adokiye’s unconventional offer appearing self-sacrificing, however, the rising pop star’s comments have been slammed as solely seeking media attention.

Plenty of others merely questioned whether the seductive singer is really a virgin.

“So this Adokiye girl wants us to believe she’s a virgin? Uh cmon!” tweeted @still_jimmy.

“somebody tell Adokiye Kyrian i am Boko Haram..lol” joshed @ObletsLavish.

“Adokiye Kyrian is really hungry for attention and in the process insulting the world’s call to Boko Haram to #BringBackOurGirls,” snapped @LudoGideon.

The Daily News also adds that Kyrian’s offer stands for anyone that will buy her mother a private jet as well.

Kryian serves as the Imo State Peace Ambassador.
