A Houston barber has found himself in trouble after he allegedly posed as a police officer in an effort to gain entry to Friday’s Final Four Fan Fest concert and watch Megan Thee Stallion perform. The 28-year-old female rapper was billed as the headline performer for the sold-out concert.
According to ABC13, the accused, Trayvone Lil Darus Stevenson, has since been charged with impersonating a public servant. The 28-year-old man appeared before a judge on Monday, following his detention in jail over the weekend.
Stevenson is accused of putting on a “Police K-9” vest and identifying himself as a police officer who had been assigned to work as security at the concert. But he allegedly posed as a police officer because he wanted to watch Megan Thee Stallion’s performance, court documents stated.
Lawyers also confirmed the accused barber is not a law enforcement official, adding that he did not come to the venue with a dog, despite wearing a “Police K-9” vest. Stevenson was released on Monday after he posted a $20,000 bond. He also does not have any prior record.
“Megan Thee Stallion is a fantastic draw, big draw, especially here in Houston, but this is still a felony case. You cannot go and impersonate an officer to get into a concert venue,” prosecutor Mathew Jackson told ABC13 on Monday.
