Beyoncé and Jay-Z reportedly buy world’s most expensive car worth $28 million

Billionaire rapper Jay-Z and his wife Beyoncé are reportedly the owners of the world’s most expensive car. The celebrity couple has added “The Boat Tail,” built by Rolls-Royce, to their luxury fleet of cars.

They reportedly bought the custom-built luxury car for an estimated $28 million. The car is said to be a rare collector’s item with only three in existence. Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor, has described the Boat Tail as the company’s “most ambitious project yet.”

The bespoke limousine is painted in the couple’s favorite hue: an oceanic blue infused with shimmering crystals. It also has a rear deck that opens to reveal matching chairs, has a high-end, double coolers and a parasol, according to Hot Press.

The Boat Tail is a two-door convertible with four seats, and a significant leap above the Bugatti La Voiture Noire which is roughly $12.5 million. The Bugatti La Voiture Noire previously held the title of the world’s most expensive new car.

According to the South China Morning Post, the luxurious car was inspired by classic J-Class yachts and the custom-built “Boat Tail” Rolls-Royces from the 1920s and 1930s. “Back then, coachbuilders directly transplanted ‘the hull forms of sailing boats’ onto rolling chassis built by Rolls-Royce,” the website noted.

Rolls-Royce reportedly spent four years developing the ultra-luxurious car. It is also said to be the first model to be created by the automaker’s Coachbuild program, which will become a permanent offering for the firm in the near future.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé are among the wealthiest husband-and-wife self-made teams in the entertainment industry. The couple have a combined net worth of almost $2 billion, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Jay-Z’s portion of their worth is estimated at $1.4 billion.

Jay-Z, who became the first hip-hop billionaire in 2019, makes money from different empires. His assets range from entertainment company Roc Nation to fine art collection including works by Jean-Michel Basquiat.

According to Forbes, Jay-Z’s music catalog, which has some 300 songs, is worth $20 million. Also, his fine art collection is valued at $70 million and features works by Damian Hirst, David Hammons and Richard Prince. He sees the collection as an investment.

In addition, Jay-Z and his wife Beyoncé jointly own homes that are valued at $50 million while his Roc Nation venture is valued at $140 million. 

Jay-Z also has a stake in French audio tech firm Devialet. The tech firm recently launched wireless earbuds called Gemini to rival Apple and Samsung’s dominance in the wireless earphones market.

The rapper’s most recent big-money moves also include venturing into America’s $130 billion cannabis industry with his own brand.

The celebrity couple make their fortune through music and other business enterprises as well as endorsement deals.
