Queen Latifah
In 2006, the black community was awestruck on the news that Hip-hop queen and screen goddess Dana Elaine Owens aka Queen Latifah had been named as a brand ambassador for Cover Girl Cosmetics. It was even bigger news when it announced that she would partner with the brand to release a makeup line of products for black skin, which was a huge success. She saw her collaboration with the brand as the perfect opportunity to make something black women could also relate to, hence her product release.
