This time around, Boko Haram’s target was reportedly a Chinese road construction company that is currently building a road in the locality of Dabanga, the Logon and Shari Division to Mora in the Mayo Sava Division, which closely shares a boundary with the Nigerian Northern State of Borno, where Boko Haram’s deadly activities negatively affect the day-to-day activities of Cameroonians living in this area.

According to reports gathered by Face2Face Africa, the very heavily armed Boko Haram members stormed the Chinese road construction company’s base at about 9 p.m. GMT. Following a fierce gun battle between them and the Cameroonian special Rapid Intervention Unit who were on guard, Boko Haram still succeeded in killing one soldier, Sergeant Abdou Bouba, and wounding two others, Sergeants Biloa Samuel Roland and Mousa Boubakari.

Boko Haram also kidnapped 10 Chinese workers, injured a Cameroonian driver and a Chinese. They stole 10 double pickup vehicles (4-wheel drivers), two trucks, and a container of explosives belonging to the Chinese company and one gun. Afterward, they took off, abandoning two motor bikes and a crenate they came with for the attack.

The attack on Cameroonian territory by Boko Haram took place at a time when the heads of state of Nigeria, Chad, Benin, Niger, and Cameroon were holding a security meeting in Paris, organized by the French President Francois Hollande and accompanied by the United States, Britain, and the European Union to discuss how to fine tune strategies against the frequent attacks and activities of Boko Haram, which have brought untold damages to life and property in the Central Africa Sub Region.
