LeAnna Roberts earns her master’s degree at just 17 years old, her third degree in two years

At the age of sixteen, LeAnna Roberts made headlines when she graduated from the University of Alabama with the highest honors. Only a year later, at the age of 17, she is celebrating another major accomplishment: earning a master’s degree from the same university.

The Tuscaloosa teen told WBRC, “I would say I am surprised. Looking back four years ago when I was in high school, I would have never imagined, never saw this in the cards myself.”

Roberts obtained an Associate’s degree in science from Shelton State Community College on the same day that she graduated from Central High School in Tuscaloosa at the age of fifteen.

She said she started taking dual enrollment classes at Shelton State Community College at the beginning of her ninth-grade year and has since excelled academically. She also entered the University of Alabama as a junior and earned her undergraduate degree in biology at 16.

On Saturday, she walked on stage to receive another degree. “A Master’s in Business Administration with a Healthcare Management concentration,” Roberts said. “From an early age my parents really poured into to me. I always had a love for reading, learning, science. I was a very inquisitive child.”

She described how she faced challenges, such as having to buckle down, re-evaluate, and develop new study habits, but overcame them all. She declared, “Another one for the MBA society.”

Roberts did, however, indicate that she will continue her education in June, pursuing another Master’s degree at UAB. She intends to complete her second Master’s degree in 2025, after which she plans on attending medical school.
