Buffalo mother fatally shot after posting domestic abuse video

Authorities in Buffalo are investigating the murder of a mother who was fatally shot in her vehicle on Wednesday. According to WKBW-TV, Keaira Hudson’s sister said the fatal incident occurred after the victim shared a troubling video on social media that showed her husband beating her.

Hudson’s husband, Adam Bennefield, was said to have been abusive toward her. Authorities have since named him as a person of interest in Hudson’s murder. “She’s just been trying to get help. I’ve been with her going to police stations, she’s been texting me, sending me videos, giving me her phone password just in case,” Hudson’s sister, Montaysha Jeter, said.

Jeter also said that the deceased mother of three had to move to her mother’s place because she was scared her life was in danger. “She’s been staying at my mom’s house for the last couple of days and she was going to go to court today because he was trying to get custody,” Jeter said.

Hudson’s relatives told the news outlet that the fatal incident occurred while the victim was driving her three children to school. The victim’s mother also said the situation was so dire her daughter had to put on a bulletproof vest before departing from home.

And when Hudson’s mother asked her why she had resorted to wearing a bulletproof vest, Jeter said the victim replied saying, “because mom he’s going to kill me you don’t understand.”

Jeter said Hudson, 40, was driving when the alleged gunman “smashed into the front of her car and got out of the car with a shotgun, shot her and pulled off.” The fatal encounter happened close to the Shawnee and Richlawn Avenues.

Andrew Hodge, who shares a child with Hudson and is her ex-boyfriend, said their daughter was in the SUV with the two other minors when their mother was fatally shot. Hodge said their daughter witnessed the fatal encounter.

“I know he was arrested a couple of days ago for domestic violence,” Hodge said, adding that the deceased mother was always trying to find a way to ensure her family was always out of harm’s way, WKBW-TV reported.

“She would call and ask questions saying ‘what should I do?’ When the video was posted on Facebook, everybody saw it. Everybody was trying to help her and this is what happens,” Hodge added.

Buffalo Police has since named Bennefield, 45, as a person of interest in Hudson’s murder. He is wanted for questioning.

This also isn’t the first time Bennefield has been involved in an incident of such a nature. In 2000, the wanted man drove a stolen car into a vehicle his ex-girlfriend was driving. He subsequently ordered his former partner and her passenger to enter his vehicle at gunpoint before leading police on a high-speed chase.
