Burna Boy is ‘charged’ as he fights against inequality in Monsters You Made video

Burna Boy’s new album Twice As Tall has been making waves since its release earlier this month. The Nigerian Afrobeats artiste’s album was met with over 78.2 million streams in the first week of its release to become the number one album on apple music in almost 48 countries.

This album debuted at number one on Billboard’s World Albums chart making it his highest appearance on the chart.

His video to the twelfth track on the album, “Monsters You Made”, featuring Coldplay’s Chris Martin, is all the rave now because of its strong message — “fighting against socio-economic inequality.”

The politically charged number’s theme hovers on systemic racism, a very relevant topic in today’s world. This could be the reason just three days after its release, it has had more than 1.8million streams on YouTube.

The video mimics the conflict in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria and Burna Boy leads a battalion of Black soldiers who then throw a bloodbath, rob trucks, and watch Chris Martin on a screen intermittently giving them messages.

The visualization of the video is top-notch and the same can be said for the entire album executively produced by Diddy.

As of now, Twice As Tall has had over 100 million streams on the various platforms. Burna Boy is known for his unique Afrobeats/dancehall sound and though he collaborates with other big artists, the album stays true to the ‘Burna Boy flavor’ we have all come to love over the years.
