Success Story

Businesses associated with Gayle King

Author and broadcast journalist Gayle King has made a name for herself as one of America’s most outstanding TV personalities. Her position as the editor-at-large for O, The Oprah Magazine, and her co-hosting position on CBS News’s morning program CBS Mornings, have made her a household name in America and around the world.

Her journey in media started at WJZ-TV in Baltimore, where she began as a production assistant. Her path will cross with that of celebrated media personality Oprah Winfrey, who at the time was a show host at the station. She later moved to Kansas City to become a weekend anchor and a general assignment reporter at WDAF-TV.

Since then, King has grown large in the media and is among some of the most celebrated media personalities in the world. Her enterprise is not limited to the media as she is also a businesswoman.

Below are some of the businesses she reportedly has an interest in.

GaBBY Bows

GaBBY Bows, founded by 14-year-old South Carolina CEO Gabby Goodwin, received $50,000 from King in 2021. The company has grown to include plant-based lifestyle items, retail stores, girls’ salons, and business mentorship programs in addition to wash-and-style products.

Real Estate

King added to her real estate holdings in 2008 when she bought a $7 million Manhattan penthouse. The property covers an area of 2,500 square feet and has facilities such as a 750-square-foot wraparound patio and two fireplaces. King has more than nine real estate holdings, from which she earns monthly rental revenue.

Another business King has an interest in is fast-food giant McDonald’s. Investing in the restaurant chain was a way for the media personality to diversify her business portfolio.

King has an interest in PayPal, an online payment system that allows people to send and receive money around the world. The company accounts for a significant portion of King’s wealth.

Other businesses

Other significant businesses King has an interest in are Visa and CitiGroup, a prominent financial institution. She is also an author. She authored “Note to Self: Inspiring Words From Inspiring People,” which is a compilation of stories and life lessons from individuals like Oprah, [President] Joe Biden, Chelsea Handler, Maya Angelou, a Newtown father, and a military widow. She has reportedly made $3 million in book royalties as of 2023.
