The 29-year-old’s local startup SafeBoda, which enables people to hail a boda-boda at the click of a smartphone, has been described as Uganda’s ‘Uber’ for motorcycle taxis. Since 2014, Ricky and his team have developed a network of Safe Boda Riders who together have increased safety on the roads, and enhanced the livelihoods of many boda-boda riders. Transportation around Uganda’s capital city, Kampala city has also become easier, comfortable and more reliable. In a day, there are no less than 15,000 trips every and more than 500 trips on the app.
