Daughter of music mogul Dr. Dre says she’s living out of her car because she’s homeless

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, the oldest daughter of Dr. Dre revealed she’s currently homeless and has been living out in her rented car. She also said she hasn’t received any financial support from her millionaire father in 18 months despite reaching out to him for help multiple times.

The music mogul, who is estimated to be worth $800 million, shares his first daughter LaTanya Young, 38, with his ex-girlfriend Lisa Johnson. LaTanya was five when her father and mother ended their relationship.

LaTanya told the news outlet that though she’s currently working three jobs, she’s still not making enough to fend for herself and her four children. She also revealed the last time she saw her wealthy father was about 18 years ago, adding that she doesn’t have his contact and she can only reach out to him through his team.

“I’ve been working in a warehouse and doing Uber Eats and DoorDash,” LaTanya said. “My kids are staying with friends – they are not living in the car, it’s just me.” LaTanya, who also claimed she has been “taking odd jobs just to make it now”, said she’s “been in debt for a while.”

“I’m trying to keep my head above water,” she said.

Despite admitting that her father, born Andre Romelle Young, used to support her financially, LaTanya said that help stopped because he took issue with her talking to the press about him.

“I’m homeless and I’ve been reaching out to my dad for help. His lawyer has said that my dad doesn’t want to help me because I’ve spoken about him in the press,” the mother of four said, adding that her children are also yet to meet their grandfather.

“I’m just trying to communicate with him and see if he wants to talk to his grandkids,” she continued. “My kids are old enough to know who he is. They are in shock that he doesn’t want anything to do with them.”

The 38-year-old revealed that the last time she received money from her father was in January last year. “Peopleme as a millionaire’s daughter so they don’t understand why I’m working. It makes me want to crawl under a rock,” she told the Daily Mail. “He used to help with our rent and gave an allowance but he told us he wouldn’t do anything anymore. I’m out on the streets.”

She continued: “I asked him for help and I haven’t got a response back from his lawyer. I’m hearing about mistresses that he’s bought houses for. It’s a messy situation.”

The Still D.R.E. rapper is currently embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with his estranged ex-partner Nicole Young. Nicole, 51, filed for divorce last year after 24 years of marriage citing irreconcilable differences. In July, a judge ordered the 56-year-old millionaire rapper and business mogul to pay Nicole almost $300,000 a month in spousal support.

Responding to the settlement, LaTanya said she feels her mother should have also received that kind of financial support from her father. “I just heard that he has to pay $300k a month for spousal support – it’s embarrassing because people are looking at me wondering: why?” she said. “What Nicole has got is what my mom should have got.”

She also claimed her father did not fulfill some commitments he ought to. “I honestly wrote a proposal and asked him if he could get a home for me and my sister and my kids,” she continued. “He was supposed to put us through college and pay for our health insurance and he never did that. My mom felt like he never upheld his end of the bargain,” she said.

“I commend Nicole in a way – she did what she had to do.”
