Five Black female songwriters you didn’t know are behind your favorite hit tracks

Songwriters do not get enough credit for the amazing works they do for the music industry. Some musicians write and sing their own works while others enlist the services of super talented writers who have shaped the music industry from behind the scenes.

Some songwriters feature on the music they write; others remain non-performers. The influence of Black female songwriters has shaped the music industry. They continue to produce hit after hit.

As we celebrate Black History Month, Face2Face Africa puts the spotlight on five talented Black female songwriters you may not have heard of but are behind your favorite hits. Their works speak for themselves as seen in some of Beyoncé’s greatest hits to Rihanna’s chart-topping songs.
