Moira Stuart
Born in London in 1949 to a mother with Dominican ancestry, Moira Stuart is a veteran and trailblazing media personality with over two decades of experience. Stuart joined BBC in the 1970s as a production assistant in the Radio’s Talks and Documentaries Department, and later became an announcer, newsreader and program presenter at BBC Radio 4.
Stuart also became the first African-Caribbean television newsreader in 1981 when she switched to the BBC’s television department. She presented news bulletins there until her departure in 2007.
She was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2001 for services to broadcasting.
