Florida mom delivers two sets of twins in one year

Children are a blessing and having twins is considered a double blessing for many families.

A Florida mom, who has delivered two sets of twins in the same year, couldn’t agree more to the above statement.

Alexandria Wolliston, 25, welcomed four boys in 2019. The first set of twins, Mark and Malakhi were born in March 2019 and  her second set, Kaylen and Kayleb, in December she told WPTV.com.

Two months later, conception took place and she found out in May that she was to expect another set of twins. Wolliston added that all her two sets of twins were conceived naturally.

“I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I never thought I would have two,’” Wolliston, who also has a three-year-old daughter, told the news outlet.

“I never thought that it could happen that fast and it did,” she said, adding that she was worried about how her body “would be able to handle a back-to-back twin pregnancy.”

According to Wolliston, her doctor even doubted she’d be able to pull through the pregnancy. Her doctor told her she had better chances winning the lottery than having two sets of twins and delivering them in the same year, ABC News reports.

The doctor’s concern was genuine because Wolliston’s pregnancy with her first set of twins were considered high risk. At the time, both twins shared one sac and only one placenta.

This made her frequent the doctor’s office weekly or every other week. However, her second set of twins each had their own sac and she had to visit the doctor just once a month during her pregnancy, she said.

Before her two sets of twins, Wolliston didn’t know twins run in both sides of her family. “When my mom told me, and my aunties and uncles on my dad’s side told me, I was like shocked,” she said Wednesday.

Another interesting incidence surrounding her deliveries is, both her maternal and paternal grandmothers delivered twins each and both died at birth.

She is now of the strong belief that her twins are the reincarnated versions of the twins her grandmothers lost, making her twins heaven sent.

“Both of my grandmothers are no longer here, so I feel like they’re watching over me. I always say that I feel like my grandmothers gave me their kids because two sets of twins and their twins passed away,” she said. “I feel like they just sent them down for me.”
