A homeless teenager called T.D. in Biscayne Park, Florida is suing the Miami-area police department for framing him for four burglaries spanning over April and May 2013. He was also falsely booked over 22 phony traffic violations.
Raimundo Atesiano the former police chief along with three officers – Charlie Dayoub, Raul Fernandez and Guillermo Ravelo have been indicted for conspiracy charges amongst other grave offences.
Atesiano ordered officers under his command to “pin crimes on random black people.” This was ascertained during an internal probe that occurred in 2014. Atesiano’s goal was to gain a 100% clearance rate for the city and prove that the police department solved every burglary.
Prosecutors caught wind of the situation when they realized all of the cases sounded suspiciously similar.
Atesiano was quoted as saying, “If they have burglaries that are open cases that are not solved yet, if you see anybody Black walking through our streets and they have somewhat of a record, arrest them so we can pin them for all the burglaries,” according to one officer.
T.D., the homeless teenager has initiated an 11-page indictment which charges the police department for “violating his civil rights and maliciously prosecuting him.”
All charges were dropped against T.D. but as a result of his bogus arrests, he was jailed and barred from getting a license.
