Systematic racism is yet to be dismantled in our society and the recent wave of #BlackLivesMatter protests have shown that black people are not just passive demonstrators anymore. Many are fed up and are seeking ways to actively show that Black lives do matter.
It’s not enough to support Black lives with just a hashtag but in actionable things like buying from Black-owned businesses. Tackling racism is ingrained in little things such as what we use our money to support. So, to put your money where your mouth is, Nsuri urges everyone to support Black businesses.
Everybody can contribute their quota and you could start from eating from Black-owned restaurants, buying books from Black authors to wearing shoes, clothes, jewelry and beauty products from Black-owned businesses.
Here is a list of some Black-owned businesses to shop at to get summer-ready.
