Singer Sade rarely gives interviews but gladly opened up recently to British Vogue for its August issue about her lockdown life amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The 61-year-old Nigerian-born British singer is seen in a stunning photo with her goddaughter Leah on her West Country farm as she social distances with her partner Ian Watts, her mom Granny Annie, and their dog Jesse James.

The Smooth Operator singer told Vogue: “I’m on our farm in the West Country with my partner Ian; my mum Granny Annie, who it’s our principal job to keep from harm…”

The music icon, who moved away from the city in 2005 to work on her estate and enjoy the peace of the countryside, said her family is doing well, adding that she has kept herself busy writing music and have rediscovered the joy cooking brings.

Her son, Izaak Theo Adul, who publicly came out as transgender in 2016, is isolating in California “with his true love,” Sade said.

“Like everyone, we’re on a ship of unknown destination but that’s life … no mutiny yet,” the Grammy award winner told British Vogue.

Sade, known widely today for her singles Your Love Is King and Smooth Operator, enjoyed critical acclaim and popularity in the 1980s and early ’90s for her blend of soul, funk, jazz, and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Her hit song “The Sweetest Taboo,” stayed on the American pop charts for six good months.
