Germany kicked off the match, playing in their traditional all-white attire with Ghana playing in their second-choice red jersey.

Earlier in the first half, Germany squandered a goal when Sami Khedira picked up a Mesut Ozil for a shot at the goal only for Fatawu Dauda to save it.

In the 34th minute, Asamoah Gyan beat a couple of German defenders but kicked the ball wide upon seeing Manuel Neuer dash off his line.

Therefore, the end of the first half remained scoreless in Estádio Plácido Aderaldo Castelo.

The Germans went ahead and scored a goal in the 51st minute with a Mario Goetze strike from six yards, passing Ghana’s keeper Fatawu Dauda.

Ghana came back, however, with a quick equalizer just three minutes after. In the 54th minute, a Harrison Afful cross from the right flank was well-connected by Andre Ayew through his powerful header for goal.

With momentum on their side, Ghana took the lead in the 63rd minute: Sulley Muntari created a defense splitting pass to the Ghanaian captain Asamoah Gyan who unleashed the ball past Manuel Neuer.

Ghana came close to increasing their lead in the 66 minutes, but a rather selfish play from Jordan Ayew on the left flank allowed the Germans to still be in the game.

Four minutes later, Germany leveled the scores with substitute Miroslav Klose getting his a 15th World Cup goal. His equalizer tied the World Cup scoring record held by Ronaldo of Brazil.

As it stands right now, Ghana are in third place and can still qualify with a win over Portugal in their last group match. This will heavily depend on the Portuguese beating the U.S.A. in their second Group G clash.
