Women of Value

Here are five interesting things about boxing champion Ramla Ali that you probably didn’t know

Ramla Ali was uprooted from her homeland Somalia to live as a refugee in the UK after her brother was killed in a bomb accident. Since then, she has broken the barriers of race, religion, and nationality, and has grown to be an impactful individual.

She quit a budding career in law and turned to physiotherapy and boxing even though her Muslim family was firmly against her fighting as a woman.  Ramla has made a name for herself worldwide and put her home country on the map.

She has also put her foot in the door for women of Muslim backgrounds and continues to use her life to empower people. Though her beauty has opened doors for her, her hard work and focus have kept her in the limelight.

Ramla, who used to be shy and hide her identity as a refugee, now stands boldly and uses her voice and status to advocate for refugees.

2023 started well for the boxer when she appeared on the list of the Times 2023 Women of The Year. With Ramla in the spotlight, here are five interesting things you probably didn’t know about the versatile achiever.
