HERide is the first Black-owned rideshare company authorized to operate at the world’s busiest airport

Jillian Anderson and DeVynne Starks are the founders of the female-friendly rideshare company HERide, which offers drivers up to 80% of the rideshare fare as compensation. The company is also discussing a new profit-sharing model once it exceeds its goal of 1,000 drivers securing a minimum of 10 rides per week.

Per the new model, the company will give drivers a share of the company’s profit, and their share of the earnings will be tied to the company’s quarterly or yearly profit performance. The specific tier or level within the driver hierarchy will determine the amount each driver receives.

Anderson and Starks co-founded the Atlanta-based company of all-women drivers. They launched the business in 2019 focused on the safety and empowerment of women taking public transportation while providing jobs and financial security. Anderson is the company’s founder and CTO, while Starks is the company’s co-founder and Director of Marketing and Communications.

They started the company after realizing that a lot of women were hesitant to ride with men at night using Uber and Lyft. Spotting this opportunity, they stepped in with their all-women riding app.

Today, the two have secured a partnership with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which is regarded as the world’s busiest airport. The partnership allows commuters around the airport to use the ride-hailing app.

“At ATL, we are committed to providing an inclusive and secure travel experience for all customers,” Deputy General Manager and Chief Commercial Officer Jai Ferrell said last September when the airport started its partnership with HERide, according to Atlanta News First. “The introduction of HERide is a significant step towards fulfilling that commitment and contributes to the welcoming and accommodating environment we provide for everyone who passes through our airport.”
