How Beyoncé’s 6-year-old daughter Rumi overthrew her sister Blue Ivy to break Billboard record

Rumi Carter, Beyoncé’s 6-year-old daughter, eclipsed her 12-year-old sister Blue Ivy to become the youngest female artist to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In the song “Protector” from Beyonce’s new album Cowboy Carter, Rumi pulls off a history-making moment by asking the singer, “Mom, can I hear the lullaby, please?” before Beyoncé starts the first verse.

“Protector” premiered at No. 42 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, as songs from her Cowboy Carter album swamped the charts. 

The record was previously held by Blue Ivy, who appeared on Beyoncé’s song “Brown Skinned Girl” at the age of 7, according to People.

But thanks to her 2012 cameo on her father JAY-Z’s “Glory” (as “B.I.C.”), Blue Ivy is still the youngest artist to feature on any Billboard chart, per Billboard.

Thanks to her recently released album, which features 23 songs on this week’s chart, Beyoncé is also making history as the latest artist to make it to at least 100 career entries on the Billboard Hot 100.

Currently, she is the third woman and the 17th artist to achieve this feat since the Hot 100’s inception in 1958, as reported by HipHopDX.

With 407,000 album-equivalent units sold in its first week, the Cowboy Carter album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking the album’s best sales total to date.
