IBOM LLC partners with New York African Businesses to host Social Media Week event

New York, NY – February 16, 2015 – It is officially that time of the year again when the digital community of New York City converges in multiple venues for Social Media Week events. Ibom LLC will be hosting an event for professionals and entrepreneurs in partnership with African Restaurant Week, Face2FaceAfrica and Mayven PR.

The topic for this year’s panel session is titled Using Social and Mobile Technology to Stay Connected in Africa. With each year the power and impact of social media and technology in the overall development and advancement of the African community and continent becomes more and more apparent, and essential to every sector and demographic. The use and importance are seen within education, entrepreneurship, health awareness, government & politics, community organizing and sensitization etc. to name a few. Based on this, and how the landscape of social/digital media and technology continues to experience rapid change and updates, it is imperative that the African community stays ahead by being informed and educated of these changes and how to continue to maximize the opportunities that social media and technology offer.

Speaking on the panel are Janell Hazelwood (@jphazelwood), associate managing editor of Black Enterprise, Farai Gundan (@FaraiToday), Forbes Africa contributor. Other panelists include Kelechi Anyadiegwu (@ShopZuvaa), owner of Zuvaa, Kwame Andah (@Coders4Africa), co-founder of Coders4Africa. Also joining the panel from Nigeria via Skype is Evangeline Wiles (@KaymuNigeria), the managing director of Kaymu Nigeria, and Ogundele Damola (@AsiriMagazine), founder of ASIRI Magazine   With such a diverse and interesting mix of panelists, attendees are promised an informative, and inspiring session of stimulating conversations to help them make the best of social media and technology in their professional, entrepreneurial and even social lives.

The event is free and kicks off at 6pm on February 26, 2015 at the popularly known Nigerian restaurant BUKA, located on 946 Fulton Street (between St James and Grand) Brooklyn, NY. The hosts for the evening are Mayven PR’s Founder, Yvonne Unubun and the Co-founder and Vice President of Face2FaceAfrica, Sandra Appiah. Both are active in the African community here in New York City and are honored to be hosting as well as partnering with Ibom LLC on such an event.
