Idris Elba may be in self-isolation after contracting coronavirus, but he is most definitely not bored and in the best of spirits.
The actor, musician and DJ, who announced he tested positive for the virus on March 16 after coming into contact with an infected person, recently released a track on his Instagram page.
Titled The Long Road 2, the Hobbs & Shaw star starts the song talking about his self-isolation.
“I guess it’s time to do a direct talk / Feels appropriate right now I guess,” he opens up. “Yeah sitting in the spare room quarantined, you know what I mean / Just letting out some thoughts.”
Among other things, the actor also raps about the current situation in the United States in regards to the spread of the virus and also shows a video of Italians in isolation motivating each other by joining in singing from their balconies.

In other related news, Elba’s wife, Sabrina Dhowre, also announced she tested positive for the virus on Sunday. Dhowre was with Elba when he shared the video revealing he had contracted the virus.
Speaking with Oprah Winfrey via FaceTime on Oprah Talks: COVID-19, on Apple TV, Sabrina explained why she did not self-isolate after her husband contracted the virus. The couple were questioned for still being together after Elba made the video announcement.
“I could have made the decision to put myself, maybe, in a separate room or stay away, and I’m sure that people are making those decisions. And they’re tough decisions to make,” she said. “But I made the decision to want to be with him and, you know, still touch him.”
Elba also told Oprah it was highly likely she had also contracted the virus as they were together the day he came into contact with the infected person.
“If I had caught it, she had certainly caught it in that time period, as well,” he said. “People were right to have highlighted that spatial distancing is important. I think given the context of the video, which was telling the world what has happened to us, we weren’t thinking about that specifically.”
