Success Story

In less than one year, these two sisters helped start over 100 trucking companies

Lashanta and Lateasha Witherspoon are breaking barriers and challenging gender norms associated with certain types of jobs in the United States. They are the founders of a trucking consulting business based in Dallas called LLG Transportation Consultants. The sisters describe themselves as Venus and Serena Williams of Trucking.

The duo founded the firm taking inspiration from their father, who has over 30 years of experience in the trucking industry and an owner-operator for 20 years. They usually accompanied their father on the road every summer which gave them the opportunity to witness the ins and outs of trucking.

“Our dad also inspired us to help other individuals such as our family and friends in the trucking industry. We started helping with dispatching and then transitioned into organising documents, retrieving funds from unpaid invoices from factoring companies, and compliance items,” they told Shoppe Black interview.

“From there, we began reaching out to other trucking companies and asking what assistance we could offer that allows them to focus on driving.”

Lateasha serves as the marketing/training Director and overseas marketing/advertisement, creates all courses and material, sends out campaigns on promotions, onboarding trainers, processes all package and compliance services, and the mentorship coaching for the company.

Lashanta, on the other hand, serves as the financial/accountant consultant. She comes into the position with over 13 years of experience working as an accountant for a nonprofit organization, a loan officer at a credit union, and a supervisor for a major corporation.

The sisters’ firm started in November 2020 helps motor carriers start their trucking companies and offers training and courses on its education platform,  LLG University. So far, the company has over 250 clients and is growing. It assisted over 100 clients to start their family Trucking Companies in less than one year, the sisters said in an interview.

“We provide several step-by-step, instructional curricula to help individuals who want to learn how to start their own back-office support and compliance consulting business like LLG, learn how freight dispatching to start their own company, or simply looking to make additional income,” they said.

The services of the firm can be purchased individually or as a package. In addition, the company helps people to obtain their Motor Carrier number, USDOT Number, BOC-3, UCR registration, IFTA Registration/Quarterly Taxes, FMCSA Clearinghouse, Drug & Alcohol Consortium Enrollment, and so on.

Since joining the trucking industry, Lashanta and Lateasha said they had to adapt to unexpected growth right from the beginning. The duo recalled receiving several inquiries and calls from motor carriers looking to start their trucking company during the first week of operation.

Lashanta and Lateasha said they want to see LLG Transportation Consultants as a major corporation with locations in several states in the next five years.

Meanwhile, they have a secondary business, LLG Every Penny Accounts, which offers accounting and financial services to their clients. The goal is to bring financial literacy to the truck industry.

“What I specialize in is helping small businesses build their business credit, as well as tax savings and financial strategies” Lashanta told Trucker Tools. “I want to be able to bring that awareness to people. That’s how we’re able to come together. I offer the financial consultant side of it and we have the logistics and trucking side, as well.”
